How to Use DTF Transfer on a Hoodie

Using DTF (Direct to Film) transfer on a hoodie is a straightforward process. Follow these steps to achieve a professional-looking result:

Materials Needed:

  • DTF transfer film
  • Inkjet printer with DTF ink
  • Heat press or iron
  • Hoodie (preferably cotton or a cotton blend)
  • Scissors or cutter
  • Teflon sheet or parchment paper

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Design Your Graphic:
    • Create or choose a design for your hoodie. Ensure it is in the correct size and format for printing.
  2. Print the DTF Transfer:
    • Load the DTF transfer film into your printer.
    • Print your design onto the film using DTF ink. Make sure to mirror the image if it contains text.
  3. Apply Adhesive Powder:
    • While the ink is still wet, sprinkle DTF adhesive powder evenly over the printed area.
    • Shake off any excess powder.
  4. Cure the Adhesive:
    • Place the transfer in a heat press at a temperature of about 160°C (320°F) for 30-60 seconds to cure the adhesive.
    • Allow it to cool before handling.
  5. Prepare the Hoodie:
    • Preheat your heat press to about 160°C (320°F).
    • Position the hoodie on the heat press and ensure it is wrinkle-free.
  6. Transfer the Design:
    • Place the cured DTF transfer onto the desired area of the hoodie.
    • Cover with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper to protect the fabric.
    • Press down firmly for about 15-20 seconds.
  7. Peel the Transfer:
    • Allow the transfer to cool slightly, then peel off the film. If the film sticks, press again for a few seconds.

Care Instructions:

  • Wash the hoodie inside and out in cold water.
  • Avoid bleach and harsh detergents.
  • Hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat.

By following these steps, you can create custom DTF transfers on your hoodies that are vibrant and long-lasting. Enjoy your personalized apparel!
