Should I choose cold peel or hot peel?
DTF Printing has a wide range of uses, the technology and effects are constantly being updated. What remains unchanged is that when the dtf film is hot transferred on the substrate, the film needs to be peeled off to complete the entire hot transferring process. However, some DTF PET films need to be hot-peeled, while others need to be cold-peeled. Many customers will ask why this is? Which film is better?
Today, I will take you to learn more about the magical direct to film.

Hot peel
After transferring the pattern to the fabric through the press machine, peel it off while it is still hot to save waiting time.
This is because the hot peel film glue layer is usually applied by a water-based backing process. If it is not peeled off in time, the cooled glue will stick to the clothes, causing difficulties in peeling off the clothes from the film, and there may be problems such as pattern residue.
Cold peel
Turn to heat first, wait for the dtf film to cool and then gently peel it.
This is because the adhesive layer adopts an oily backing process and has good fastness. You need to wait for the film to cool before it can be peeled, otherwise the heat transfer pattern is likely to be broken.
The difference between them:
1. Color
The color produced by hot peel film is brighter and the color expression is strong; the color produced by cold peel film is matte and has a stronger texture.
2. Color fastness
Hot peel film has an adhesive layer and uses water-based back coating technology. If the adhesive layer is not removed in time, the cooled glue will stick to the clothes, making it difficult to remove the film from the clothes. Furthermore, the long-term washing fastness of the aqueous adhesive layer cannot be guaranteed.
The adhesive layer of the cold peel film adopts oily back coating method and has good water fastness.
3. Pressing requirements
Hot peel film has relatively detailed requirements on pressing time, temperature, pressure, etc. Generally speaking, hot peeling can be easily achieved at 140-160 degrees, pressure 4-5KG, and pressing for 8-10 seconds. The cold peel film has relatively lower requirements.
4. The difference in tension
Neither of them will stretch or crack after pressing.
5. The difference in efficiency
Hot peel film peels off with almost no waiting after pressing, which saves a lot of time. The printing business owner or operator only needs to focus on the heat press. Once the heat press is completed, the film can be peeled off and another T-shirt can be quickly produced. This makes it possible to print 100 T-shirts in an hour.
On the other hand, cold peel films are less efficient than hot peel films because of their better print quality in terms of detail and granularity.
If you are pursuing efficiency, you can choose hot peel film. Cold peel film is easier to tear when it needs to be lukewarm or cool.

Nowadays, in addition to hot peel film and cold peel film, there is also a more comprehensive film type on the market - hot and cold peel film. Whether it is cold peel or hot peel, it does not affect the quality of heat transfer. TEXTEK provides a full range of dtf films including cold peel, hot peel, cold and hot peel, etc. Just choose the most suitable one according to your business needs!

What are the reasons why dtf printing film is difficult to peel off?
1. The heat transferring temperature is wrong. The heat press machine must be adjusted to the appropriate temperature in advance.
2. The heat transferring pressure is not enough. You should increase the heat transferring pressure. The bigger the pressure, the better the heat transferring effect will be.
3. The peeling method of the film is not correctly viewed. The hot peel film is used as the cold peel film, or the cold peel film is used as the hot peel film. When using, be sure to distinguish between the cold peel film and the hot peel film.
In summary, accurate temperature, time, and pressure must be determined according to different fabric characteristics. These are the three elements of heat transferring.
Four basic factors for choosing dtf printing film:
1. The pattern after transfer has a texture like PU glue, with strong stretch resilience and no deformation. It feels softer than glue (30~50% softer than the pattern printed with oil-based film).
2. It is suitable for most inks on the market. It can print 100% of the ink volume without any ink accumulation or bleeding.
3. The surface of the film is dry and can be sprinkled with 50-200 powder without sticking. The picture is a picture and the powder is powder. Where there is ink, the powder will stick. Where there is no ink, it will be spotless.
4. The release is easy and clean, leaving no ink on the printing film and no layers on the pattern.

In general, both hot peel and cold peelhave their advantages, so choose according to your needs. Whichever DTF PET film you choose, the most important point is that you need to find a stable supplier with quality assurance.
