What You Should Do to Leave Your DTF Printer in Stop Mode

1. Planning for an Extended Period of Inactivity
2. Initiating Long-Term Shutdown Mode for Your DTF Printer
3. Extra Tips for Preserving Your Printer During Shutdown

Here are the key steps to safely leave your DTF (Direct to Film) printer in extended shutdown mode, such as during the summer, holidays, or vacations:

Planning for an Extended Period of Inactivity

Before starting the process to leave your DTF (Direct to Film) printer in extended shutdown mode, ensure you have the following items readily available:

1. ColorBoost Cleaning and Maintenance Liquid:
This specialized liquid is used to flush and clean the printer's ink system during the shutdown procedure

2. Refillable Cartridges:

If your DTF printer uses refillable cartridges, make sure you have them on hand. These are typically included as part of the ColorBoost equipment.
If you have an L1800 printer, you will need to purchase dampers in addition to the refillable cartridges.

3. Cartridge Guide:
The cartridge guide is a useful tool, particularly if your printer does not have an L1800 model. It helps with the proper installation and alignment of the refillable cartridges.

4. Clean Syringe:
A clean syringe is essential for precisely filling the refillable cartridges with the ColorBoost cleaning liquid during the shutdown process.

Here are the steps to properly leave your DTF (Direct to Film) printer in extended shutdown mode:

1. Power On the Printer: Turn on the printer using the rear power button. Press the front power button to move the carriage to the center of the machine. Turn off the printer again using the rear power button.

2. Remove the Dampers: If your printer has dampers, which control the ink flow to the print heads, remove them and place them in a secure bag.

3. Prepare the Cleaning Cartridges: Remove the rubber plugs from any empty cartridges intended for cleaning and maintenance. Using a clean syringe, inject the ColorBoost cleaning liquid into the empty cartridges, then replace the rubber stoppers.

4. Install the Cartridge Guide: Place the cartridge guide on the carriage to facilitate the installation of the refillable cartridges.

5. Open the Vent Plugs: Open the vent plugs on the refillable cartridges to allow air to enter the system.

6. Secure the Damper Bag: Place the bag containing the dampers on the print head carriage and secure it with tape to prevent any movement or rubbing.

7. Power On and Prepare the System: Turn the printer back on and wait for the power button to stop flashing, indicating the printer is ready for the next step.

8. Remove Residual Ink: Use the syringe to remove any residual ink from the tubes, helping the cleaning fluid to penetrate the print heads.

9. Perform Head Cleaning: Initiate a head cleaning process, either from your computer or by holding down the drop button for a few seconds. Repeat this head cleaning procedure two more times.

10. Final Shutdown: Turn off the printer using the front power button. Disconnect the main power supply to the machine.

Extra Tips for Preserving Your Printer During Shutdown

Here are some additional recommendations for maintaining your DTF (Direct to Film) printer during extended shutdown mode:

1. Environmental Storage Conditions: Store your DTF printer away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Ideal storage conditions should be in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area to prevent any potential damage to the machine.

2. Ink Tank Preparation: Before reusing the printer, shake the ink tanks thoroughly to ensure the inks are well mixed and ready for printing. This step helps prevent any separation or solidification of the inks during the extended downtime.

3. Perform Head Cleaning: When ready to resume printing operations, execute a thorough head cleaning process. This will help clear any dried or residual ink from the print heads, ensuring optimal print quality.

4. Inspect Critical Components: Verify that the recirculation pump, ink pipes, and dampers (if applicable) are all functioning properly. Check for any signs of wear or damage, and replace any defective components to maintain the printer's optimal performance.

5. Document Maintenance Records: Continue to maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities and any observations made during the extended shutdown period. This documentation will help with troubleshooting and guide the steps needed to bring the printer back to full operational capacity.
